Custom Home Built in Rye, NY
The owners of this lot in Rye, NY wanted to maximize the finished square footage of this new construction to accommodate a home large enough for their growing family. The solution was to go deep, building a four-story home with two levels of basement, creating 5,500 square feet of living space, 7 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. Two stories are visible from the street and three from the rear elevation. The sloping lot allows for a full walk-out on the upper basement while generous light wells provide natural light and safety exits from the lower basement. These lower levels, both fully finished and with 9 foot ceilings, add significant space by extending square footage for two levels underneath the entire structure, including the garage!
Coyle Homes stick-built the custom home with two wood-framed upper floors, constructed on two heavily-reinforced steel and concrete lower levels.
The home features 9 and 10 foot ceilings throughout, as well as generous built-ins and transitional moldings creating an elegant yet current feel. The home has unique amenities for the busy family including dual dishwashers in the kitchen, two sets of washers & dryers in the laundry room and a full home backup generator. The kitchen hosts a wood paneled, integrated Sub-Zero refrigerator and freezer as well as a Wolf range and built-in microwave drawer.
Smart home features make the four stories easy to navigate, with light switches, thermostats and video cameras that can all be controlled by a smartphone or by simply asking Apple’s Siri. Cat6 cabling throughout the home accommodates a mesh high speed wireless network. There are even a few special features for the young children. There is a child-sized door connecting siblings’ bedrooms and a cozy, illuminated space underneath one of the stairs, fully carpeted, trimmed, and finished for a perfect pint-sized hideaway.
